1. Eligibility for Returns & Refunds
To qualify for a return or refund, your item(s) must meet all of the following criteria—we uphold these standards to protect the integrity of our handcrafted work and ensure fair processing for all customers:
- Return requests are submitted within 14 calendar days of the date you receive your order (shipping confirmation/tracking number serves as official proof of delivery).
- The item is in its original, unused, unaltered condition with no signs of wear, scratches, tarnish, or damage from use. All original packaging (anti-tarnish pouch, jewelry box, tags) must be returned with the item.
- The item is a ready-to-ship, pre-made product (custom/made-to-order pieces have separate terms in Section 2).
- You provide a valid proof of purchase (order number, shipping confirmation email, or official receipt).
Note: Minor aesthetic variations in handcrafted pieces (e.g., slight color differences, subtle design nuances) are hallmarks of artisanal creation and do not qualify as defects or grounds for return/refund. We ensure all products are free of manufacturing defects at the time of shipment.
2. Non-Returnable Items
The following items are non-returnable and non-refundable due to their custom, handcrafted nature, hygiene considerations, or limited production—no exceptions will be made:
- Custom, made-to-order, or personalized jewelry pieces (e.g., engraved items, size-customized designs, custom material selections).
- Hygiene-sensitive jewelry (e.g., earrings with post backs, body jewelry) that has been opened or worn (sealed hygiene-sensitive items must remain unopened to qualify for return).
- Sale, clearance, or limited-edition handcrafted pieces.
- Items damaged due to customer misuse, neglect, accident, or failure to follow care instructions (e.g., tarnish from improper storage, breakage from rough wear).
- Items returned without their original packaging, tags, or anti-tarnish pouches.
- Items for which the return request is submitted after the 14-day eligibility window.
3. How to Initiate a Return
All returns require prior authorization—unauthorized returns will not be accepted, processed, or refunded. To start a return for an eligible item, follow these steps:
- Submit a Return Request: Email our customer service team at service@donnyebernicellc.com with the subject line: Return Request – [Your Order Number]. Include your full name, order number, the specific item(s) to return, reason for return, and clear photos of the item (and original packaging) for verification.
- Receive Return Authorization: Our team will review your request within 24-48 business hours (Monday-Friday, excluding U.S. federal holidays). If approved, you will receive a Return Authorization (RA) Number and detailed return instructions, including our official Tacoma return address.
- Package the Return Item: Securely repackage the eligible item in its original packaging (anti-tarnish pouch, jewelry box) and outer shipping material to prevent damage during transit. Clearly write the RA Number on the outside of the return package for easy identification.
- Ship the Return: Send the package to the provided return address using a trackable, insured shipping method. The customer is solely responsible for all return shipping costs—we do not cover shipping fees for eligible returns, and return shipping costs are non-refundable. We are not liable for lost, stolen, or damaged items in transit to our return address.
4. Refund Processing
Once we receive and inspect your returned item (allow 3-5 business days for inspection after delivery to our Tacoma address), we will notify you via email of the approval or rejection of your refund request.
- Approved Refunds: Refunds are processed to your original payment method within 5-7 business days of inspection. The refund amount is the purchase price of the item(s) only—original shipping costs, return shipping costs, and any taxes paid are non-refundable.
- Refund Timing: Your payment provider (credit card company, bank, etc.) may take an additional 2-3 business days to process the refund and credit the funds to your account; this timeline is beyond our control.
- Rejected Returns: If your return is rejected (e.g., item is worn/damaged, missing original packaging, no valid RA Number), we will notify you via email and offer to ship the item back to you at your sole expense. If you decline this option, we reserve the right to dispose of the item after 30 days of notification, with no further liability to you.
5. Exchanges
We offer store credit only for all eligible returns—we do not process direct product exchanges (e.g., size swaps, design substitutions) due to the limited, handcrafted nature of our inventory. If your return is approved and you wish to exchange the item for another product:
- We will issue a store credit for the purchase price of the returned item(s) (minus original shipping costs and return shipping costs).
- Store credit is valid for 12 months from the date of issue and can be used for any ready-to-ship purchase on our website (excludes sale/clearance, custom, and limited-edition items).
- Store credit cannot be redeemed for cash, is non-transferable, and has no cash value (per Washington state law).
6. Damaged, Defective, or Incorrect Items
If you receive an item that is damaged in transit, has a manufacturing defect, or is incorrect (wrong item/size/design) (not due to customer error or handcrafted variation), we will resolve the issue at no cost to you—this is the only exception to our non-refundable shipping/fee policy. To report a damaged/defective/incorrect item:

- Provide Evidence: Include clear photos/videos of the item, its original packaging, and the issue (e.g., broken clasp, missing stone, incorrect engraving) for verification, along with your order number and delivery confirmation.
- Resolution Options: If your claim is approved, we will offer one of the following solutions (at your option):
- A full refund to your original payment method (including original shipping costs).
- A replacement item shipped to you at our expense (for in-stock pieces).
- A store credit for the full purchase price (including original shipping costs) with extended 18-month validity.
No claims will be approved for items reported after the 3-day window, and we reserve the right to verify all damage/defects before processing a resolution.
7. Order Cancellations
You may request to cancel an order only if it has not yet been processed or shipped. To cancel an order:

- The item is returned in a worn, damaged, or altered condition (excluding manufacturing defects).
- The item is a non-returnable product (custom, sale, hygiene-sensitive, etc.).
- The return is sent without a valid Return Authorization (RA) Number.
- No valid proof of purchase is provided.
- The damage/defect is determined to be caused by customer misuse, neglect, or failure to follow care instructions.
- The item’s original packaging, tags, or anti-tarnish pouch is missing.
9. International Return Terms (If Applicable)
For international customers with eligible returns:
- You are solely responsible for all international return shipping costs, customs duties, brokerage fees, and import taxes imposed by the U.S. or your home country.
- All international returns must be shipped to our Tacoma return address and clear U.S. customs—we are not liable for returns seized, delayed, or rejected by customs.
